New Blog

Peoples and pipas, I am building a new blog, entirely from scratch, using Django and with a different name. The name I’ll not reveal yet, but will be easier to remember and to type. The next post will be the last, containing the new URL.

Probability Theory and Statistics – class 1

Resurrecting the blog, I bring to you, my (possible) 2 readers, a material about Probability Theory and Statistics. This is a working in progress and is in the page academy, under the section with the name I believe you already know.

My next posts will possibly be in this way, just linking to some .pdf file about probability, machine learning and jen-law pictures. Enjoy!

Online education, Bitcoin and others…

After 3 months of hibernation, I’m returning to post (but with moderation). Today I’ll talk about different subjects, from online education to Bitcoin.

Online Education

It’s no suprise to anyone that nowadays there’s no space to people who stop learning after graduate from college. We all have to learn, relearn and search other sources of knowledge than our local university. I am taking three courses at Coursera: Machine Learning, Cryptography and one about business and startups (just because the professor of a course in college demands). Here is a list of some online platforms I remember (mostly due to this video):

Baking a post

Those few fellows who follow this blog may have notice the absence of new posts for almost a month. Lately I was busy with the my graduation and the frequency of writing has decreased. What I am doing these last days is write the first post about Bitcoin.

I created a new page where a reader can donate any desirable amount of bitcoins to a particular address. This is part of my research and use of Bitcoin.

So, that’s all for now and wait for a new post until the end of this week.

[EDIT] It’ll take longer than I predicted. I expect to continue this post about Bitcoin while Brazil is playing football.

[EDIT 2] I realized my knowledge about Bitcoin is not so good yet. So, the series of Bitcoin post will have to be rescheduled. The next posts will probably be about LaTex. Also, I need to finish the Neural Networks in a Nutshell series and continue to write about algorithms. As the Bitcoin, I’m thinking in create a category for it.

Homo’s devil machine

Reading the AIMA (Artificial Intelligence – A Modern Approach) I realise the authors, from time to time, talks about how Alan Turing’s vision on the subject was incredible and revolutionary. At this moment I caught myself thinking how he could have contributed more if his mind were as relevant as his ass…

My eye on github

I believe 99% of my readers have a GitHub account and use it (at least to backup). If you’re in the 1%, be ashamed and get it fixed now!

This post is just to show to where I am looking at in GitHub. I’ll briefly talk about the repositories in my watch and star lists. My own projects will not be mentioned here. If you want to know some of them click here. Let’s start!

Algorithms in a nutshell

Moving to a new nutshell series (don’t worry, I’ll finish the one about neural nets some day), we are going to see the basic topics of what in many universities is the Algorithms and Data Structures course. My references will be slides from the course in my grad school and one or other link from the internet. Also, the majority of codes (if not all of them) will be written in the C programming language (if you don’t know what is it, get the fuck out of here you heretic!).
